Featured reviews
This Soviet animated short, based on the children's story by Vitaly Bianki, tells the story of a young partridge, the Orange Throat, who is orphaned when a hawk attacks it partner, and is adopted by a another large family of birds.
There are some nice messages here about the joys of being part of a large family, and the kindness of adoption. Perhaps this was intended as socio-political message, but it is not heavy handed. The traditional animation style is very nicely done, every bit the equivalent of the Disney produced shorts of the same era.
Not a groundbreaking film by any means, but a sweet story, well told.
