I was curious about this movie after I read that it was filmed in New Hampshire (I'm a native), so my boyfriend and I cued it up one Friday night, and I have to say, it did not disappoint. I was first struck by how visually stunning it is. It's filled with some amazing shots that really put the lushness and beauty of NH in summertime on display, but reveal sparseness and decay at the same time. Then the sound, acting, and uneasy storyline kicked in to pull me in even further -- everything was tuned perfectly to enhance everything else. A lot about this movie has stuck with me since I watched it about a week ago, I'd definitely give it a watch to see how it settles with you!
The film itself is beautifully shot and two leads are very good. But what I like the most about it is the background, not just the natural settings (which is beautiful and scary as this film), but what's hidden in it. During the whole film something is missing and on the end you realize that you don't want to see all that lies behind and all that can be found. But you get the glimpse of it. And that's done very good. Pensive, intelligent film.
Worth watching for the music alone. The film is really slow but the acting is great and the music is GREAT.

Excellent movie that keeps your attention throughout; it's not obvious where the story line is headed and it kept me guessing. Beautiful cinematography involving both indoor and natural outdoor settings. There is not a ton of dialogue and I didn't miss it -- the story is told well without it. I was impressed by the lead actors.
After reading about this film a number of months ago, I finally had a chance to watch it over the holiday break. The first thing that stood out to me was how expertly this film was written. The well-crafted dialogue coupled with a number of unexpected twists really enveloped me into the world of our characters. As an avid fan of independent cinema, this film checks all the boxes of a great piece of cinematic excellence. From captivating on screen performances to the equally stunning cinematography, Loud Places has me anxiously awaiting the director's next film!
