The Anomalyst

For a typical horror TV series, it's really a let down. It highly implies a low budget production with worse execution in every department.

Just move on, watch anything except this one.

This has all the elements of a student made assignment for a minor Motion Pictures class.

The acting is wooden, the SFX are ludicrous, the sound mixing is dreadful, some scenes were out of focus, the lighting is poor, the audio has a hollow echo to it. Dialogue is overwhelmed by the incidental music in places.

The theme music and incidental music are discordant but not in a good way. Loud and abrasive on the ears.

Based on this first episode, I'll be giving the rest of the episodes a miss.

Only two epodes released so far. One in September, one in December. It's ringing alarm bells that it's not all it claims to be.

Inept camera work, rotten acting, awful script, terrible pacing right from the get go. It makes some student films look like Lawrence of Arabia by comparison.

If you can make it past five minutes of episode one withot hovering over the stop button, I'll be impressed. There are soap powder TV commercials with more artistic flair and better storylines than this pile of amatuerish crap.

It probably could serve as a guide on how not to make a TV show at a film school, but beyond that, it literally serves no purpose whatsoever, because it's not even bad in a 'so bad it is funny' kind of way, so you can't even watch it ironically, it's just really bad and that's it.

Pretty low budget, which I'm okay with, everything. Acting, camera work blah blah blah. It made no sense, which I can't stand.

The plot is as bad as the acting and the show is a waste of time. Avoid it...
