Sure, without ever having heard about this 2024 horror movie "Bogieville", from director Sean Cronin and writer Henry P. Gravelle, I still opted to watch it. I am a big fan of all things horror after all.
Writer Henry P. Gravelle put together an okay script and storyline, though the narrative was a bit sluggish at times. There were moments in the movie where it felt like the narrative went into Neutral and went nowhere. But overall, it was an okay enough entertaining script for a vampire movie, just could have used a bit more excitement and action sequences.
The acting performances in "Bogieville" are good, and it was nice to see Indonesian actor Arifin Putra in an American movie. Director Sean Cronin was also starring in the movie. I was actually only familiar with Arifin Putra on the entire cast list.
Visually then "Bogieville" was good. The vampires look feral, and doesn't have that archetypical charming appearance that you would expect from the Bram Stoker's inspired vampires.
This movie will appeal to fans of the vampire genre at large, of that I am sure. I was moderately entertained, but it is hardly a movie that warrants more than a single viewing.
My rating of director Sean Cronin's 2024 movie "Bogieville" lands on a five out of ten stars.

I really enjoyed this film and the budget may have been low but the ingenuity and creative skills employed were a credit to all involved. The story was original the sound track perfection, makeup, special effects and the standard of acting was excellent. The horror was interspersed with poignant moments alongside wry humour, thoroughly enjoyable. The critics obviously don't appreciate the talent and effort that goes into indie films and should be ashamed at their bad judgement and lack of support to the industry. Script writers, film makers, crew and actors give their all to these projects and negative and downright unfair comments have a huge impact on the earning potential. Uncalled for.
It is a very low budget film, but although clearly limited with it's production options, the actual story and the effects are very well.handled. Avoids some predictable horror clichés and is clearly trying it's own thing, even with acknowledgement that it's inspired by a bigger budget 80s horror classic. Maybe reworking the story to be more UK based would help give it a few more options on the overall production. But you cannot deny the effort put in by all involved to deliver their best for this production. Would begreat to see what could be achieved with a much bigger budget for future efforts.
This is a very ambitious project. It provides thrills, scares, gore, really good teeth and a whole new twist on the vampire genre.
Its ambitious because it was probably made for a modest budget, but the effects alone bely that. From a technical point of view the prosthetics look amazing and the CG work is top notch.
But its also a hoot - in a good way, lots of nasty snarling bad guys chomping down on some wholesome neck. Mostly red neck actually as this is set in the deep South of the US.
Some stand out performances here too. It may not be the most fancy and accomplished vampire flick of all time, but if you are after a roller coaster of gore and lashings of pointy teeth - then this is for you.

I'm pretty forgiving for horror and science-fiction but this is just BAD. The acting is a just step above community theater and whoever wrote this needs to be flogged. Low budget horror can often be good. Vampire films like Near Dark can be very good. This had no interesting characters or a point.
I'd say its a complete waste of time to watch but even that would be high praise and that any streaming company would charge for this monstrosity is a crime. Okay here's a quick synopsis. 'Our' hero gets fired from his job. He heads over to see his girlfriend who works at a bar. She's actually pretty. So they need to leave town quickly. Behind in rent and all.
So off they go to find work, etc. They drive along until they hit someone or something. So they stop to try and find out what happened and to get help. Hey there is a trailer park up ahead.
This of course is Bogieville.
