This is a great show for people like me interested in deep sea fishing and the business of commercial fishing. It does not have all the set up drama of most of the other shows. It is just a great show about fishing and a Texas family who lives off commercial fishing. They need to have a second season and they will see that the audience will be there. I have no idea why a review needs to be ten lines so I will have to put a bunch of words here to get to 10 lines. This is one of the dumbest things I have ever seen. Why does it have to be ten lines. What if I don't have ten lines to write. This review is now nine lines and soon it will be ten lines. Hey lookie there it is now ten lines
Like most things in life our views are colored by our own background personal interests. I am the son of a commercial fisherman and fully understand and appreciate these folks' lifestyle. I am also around many sports fishermen who believe any commercial boat on the ocean is a threat to the world and their pastime. I personally enjoy recreational fishing (although would never classify myself as a "sports fisherman"). I also believe both commercial and sports fishermen contribute to the depletion of our fishing stocks, but it doesn't make either bad people.
I will say that sports fishermen GREATLY underestimate the amount of collective fish they take from the ocean and the impact it has on our stocks.
I also believe that if not for commercial fisherman then a vast population of the Country (if not the world) would have no access to seafood. Remember, not everyone lives on a coastline. It also goes without saying that other than perhaps a few reality TV stars, no one is getting rich off of commercial fishing...most are just trying eke out a living and work very hard for very little.

I love this show! I'v bought seafood from this market for many years while on vacation in Galveston. The people have always been so very friendly and the seafood is excellent quality and delicious! I've seen many of the people in the show at the market and they are not acting, that's really how they are in real life. Buddy Guindon and family have really built an empire and it's inspiring to see someone start something from the ground and build it into such a successful business. The Guindons are still down to earth and are devoted to their family, employees, and customers. Big Fish Texas is very entertaining, I can't wait for season 2. Big Fish Texas is the talk of the internet and chatter is through the rough. Good job NatGeo, you've definitely got people talking.
What they fail to tell you is they preach being conservationalists but they are raping the ocean for profit.
If that's not awful enough they are paying off politicians to vote to eliminate the ocean to ordinary Americans.
Divide and conquer as usual thru means of d.c. Corruption.
Not opinion but fact.
Don't support this show and shame on Nat geo.
I thought this network was for protecting the wildlife and natural resources.
No longer can fathers and sons take for granted that they can drop a line and fish without fear of intimidation from people like buddy searching to harass us while we are law abiding Americans having family time.
We eat too people.

I'm grateful for all the commercial fisherman who work hard to bring fish to the people who don't have access to it. Not everyone has a boat or access to the Gulf so without them most people wouldn't be able to enjoy fresh fish. It's obvious from the show that Buddy takes the sustainability of the fish very seriously and he wants the preserve the fishery for years to come. He has worked very hard over the years to ensure that his family will be able to continue commercial fishing for years to come. The show is informative and entertaining and it's wonderful to see such a hard working family doing well! I'm hopeful for season 2!!!
