A strange acceptance speech by Godard

The master of creations such as "Breathless" and "Je Vous Salue Marie" was given an honorary award at the Swiss Film Festival, for his contributions to the world cinema. As usual with the man, JLG claimed that due to his problematic health he couldn't go in person to accept the award, which includes an interesting sum of money, (30,000 Swiss francs/U$29.000) and rumor has it that he donated to Animal Rights groups and the Amnesty International. In his unique and confusing style, he thanked them by making this small piece. Nothing makes sense.

Honestly? That "movie" was just ramblings of a mad man. Fernandel, Pasolini, nations references, Jura and Humbert-Droz, Swiss has no cinema (at that point, it felt like he was humiliating the ones who gave him the award). One rambling after another and those streams of consciousness only make sense to the old bean. While speaking and mixing those references, he walks very slowly, using a cane, then lays on the floor and moves from time to time.

We all know Godard it's a clear case of "love or hate", we all know how he operates his films and sometimes he hits the nail in the head and can provide first class masterpieces. I'm slightly angry with this exactly project of film because a little bit of humility, a simple "Thank you, I'm deeply touched by the gesture the Swiss are giving me. Loved the award" could be enough. Instead he says nothing at all, uses of the "vanity, all is vanity" armor, trying to be a giant on the top of the world who knows everything and doesn't need to explain himself to anyone. I couldn't get nothing out of this. If the money/award donation is true, then I'm all up for it, it's a great thing, very commendable. The Swiss surely deserved to receive a message from JLG but not this movie. Only giving the stars cause it wasn't so bad and it's awfully short to cause any damage. 4/10
