Chinu Nandi, the protagonist, (played by Mithun Chakraborty, in an unforgettable performance), is instantly likable & well-written. You feel for the old-man, who's life has been nothing but being a nobody. His success is a triumph not only for him, but also for us, as we feel for him, in a very unusual way. Pandey's Screenplay blends the magic of films with the harsh realities of life, with maturity & some of the most precious dialogue you've heard in a while. He pens a story of an under-dog, with such sensitivity & clarity, that one only appreciates the storytelling once the show concludes.
The true power of 'Shukno Lanka' is its approach. Its not conventional, yet its an every man's story. Pandey's Direction is equally praise worthy, as he has handled the film with command.
