Despite of not understanding a single word from the Turkish language, my entire family from 8 year old till my father 77 years old watches this on Netflix with great passion. After watching one episode by mistake, we now don't watch anything else on TV. Amazing cast, direction & story on this master piece. Love it!!
Since it got started in December, I have become a regular follower of Filinta. With its special effects that we have never seen before on TV, successful actors and scenario of good quality, Filinta made a huge breakthrough in Turkey. It is known that Turkish people love detective stories - even some Sultans were fan of it! - and Ottoman touch wouldn't have been better on those stories. I definitely recommend it. I also want to say something about Mehmet Ozgur in role of Kadi Giyaseddin Hatemi. He appears as the mayor of Galata district and also tutor of Filinta Mustafa. What I like about him is that he gives messages showing the good side of Turkish culture with a short scene in each episode. For instance, during the days of a university student girl - Ozgecan Aslan - was raped and murdered by two men, Kadi Giyaseddin had a scene saying that treating women bad is unacceptable. Of course he bases his arguments on Islam but I find him as a very powerful character in that sense.
I watched the entire series Filanta which up to the last few episodes was a very good historical drama, until it made serious antisemitic references to the Elders of Zion who supposed to be Jews ( a Star of David was clearly seen) trying to run the world. The last episode had the founder of the state of Israel Theodore Herzl as the main evil leader. Sadly perpetuating to Turkish audiences the spread of this ancient libel against the Jewish people.
Unfortunately I don't speak or understand a word of the Turkish language so I am at a disadvantage waiting for the series to be interpreted. So many Turkish films I have left Netflix a message to get the next series.
The writers and producers and the actors are superb in Filinta. I smiled, laughed, cried during the entire 2 seasons.
I'm waiting for season 3. Looking so forward to it.

I have never watched anything better or similar to this...
It's captured my imagination and attention like nothing else
I don't speak Turkish although I am a true student of world history and cultures and the Ottoman slant to this has totally mesmerised me.
Compelling and emotional
Complex and so non-formulaic in the US or UK style.
I didn't know I was starting on what is Turkey's finest TV series
It deserves all my attention and heart.

- GoofsFilinta's revolver as shown in the opening credits and used in the series, would not be able to work as powerfully as is shown. There is a gap of at least 1/8" between the front of the cylinder and the breach of the barrel. The gases used to propel the bullet through the barrel would nearly all go out through the sides after it left the cylinder leaving very little power to get the bullet out of the barrel.
