great cast, some similarities to the Wrong Mans but much better, already starting to put together a great chemistry of characters. Yes the world is going to end, but don't see Bruce Willis coming to sort it out ! a good mix of conspiracy, humour, great characters, both the main and the peripheral (the women prisoners and Father Alphonse), just enough unpredictability without it becoming disjointed even though you are bing introduced to all the main characters Stand out performances for me Matthew Baynton, Gaia Scodellaro, Rob Lowe & Megan Mullally which is good as they are the main characters. A lot of twists and turns in the first episode so my only concern would be whether they can keep up the pace and the quality of the writing and acting If so I might go to a 10!
I really loved this series overall. The acting is excellent, the plot is winding and clever, and much of it is quite funny. I was consistently drawn in, entertained, and curious what would happen next.
The ride does, however, become a bit bumpy towards the end. The problems are mainly related in some way to religion, both in an utterly nonsensical conspiracy and in some overt supernatural elements that are hinted at throughout the series but are ramped up far too much in the latter part.
Then there's the end, which is both predictable and unsatisfying. Even though this was a miniseries, it's clear that the intention was to have a second season, so they left a mystery unanswered one or two threads loose. This would have been unsatisfying even if a second season were coming, but it's not, which makes it *super* annoying. (Hopefully at some point the developers will give an interview and fill in the blanks.)
If not for the ending, I would have given this a 9 rating instead of an 8. But I've seen far more frustrating finales, so I didn't feel the ending entirely ruined the series; it just made it weaker than it should have been.

Slightly perplexed by the last two reviewers (were they watching the same show as me?!), as far as I'm concerned, this is one of the best written shows on TV at the moment. The plot is great - twisting and turning with a fabulous blend of humour and drama. I quite literally don't know where it's going from week to week. Whilst it is first and foremost a comedy - there is enough tension in the plot to make you genuinely concerned for the various characters - some of which meet quite unpleasant endings... The curious blend of Slough and the apocalypse - who'd have thought that would work?!
The acting is top notch - Rob Lowe perfectly cast. Matthew Baynton playing both parts with relish. There's not a week link in it. I will be truly sad when the show is over.
My only complaint is that they really should have stuck with the original title: "Apocalypse Slough!". Genius.

I have been employing IMDb for several years now, conceivably in a similar fashion to other registered/unregistered users. To this date, I had never posted my own review albeit not for lack of opinion. About a month ago(early October-ish)while poking around the web, I stumbled upon this little 'gem'; You, Me and the Apocalypse. Simply put, this is an awesome show that was impeccably cast, written, directed and produced. Y,M and the A has a sublime blend of all that makes a program great. I am always pleasantly surprised to see what direction the show will take and I have to say, I found myself quite emotionally taken with the character development. My friends and family have dubbed me as over-critical when I comment on any particular show, series, movie etc. Thankfully there is still good new content being released and I enjoy productions such as Y,M and the A all the more because they stand out from re-hashed, vanilla and blasé mainstream media....;-)
