    apparences

A short Sci Fi reminding Cinderella , exploring the high need to save apparences and giving a lovely romantic story. A film about dreamed perfection of body and face and about relationship based on this superficial aspect. And, sure, about the truth. The great part- the performances and, sure, the French delicate emotion translation. So, just beautiful for the inspired manner to answer to one of the great desires.

    Reality+

"Vincent" (Vincent Colombe) is your average looking Joe who's a little disillusioned with his body. Then he reads of a micro-chip that when implanted allows a person to pretty much design their own body by altering their own perceptions of yourself - and of sharing those with anyone else who has had the same surgery. Thing is, it only works for twelve hours each day and then you revert back to normal. That's fine, he reckons, so goes and gets the job done emerging as his own ideal self (Aurélien Muller). Seems this idea is quite contagious as a few of his friends follow suit. Thing is, when do you use it? At work or at play? Twelve hours is tantalisingly too short! Maybe someone could unlock the chip and it could become a permanent arrangement? It's quite an interesting look at the scourge of vanity that drives our relationships, attitudes, self worth and the judgements we make of each other, and also delivers quite a sad indictment of the ease with which we reach for technology to solve our problems or make our lives artificially better without consideration of the consequences. It's also quite poignant that the images we manufacture for ourselves are all so traditionally stylised, beautiful, swarthy, sexy - we could easily all end up looking the same. Clearly the beauty industry has a deep-rooted path to our inner psyche of what we consider attractive. Of course, if it seems to good to be true, then it probably is - but how will it pan out for "Vincent"?

    Crazy!

I really really loved it! And how can it be a movie from 2014? It is so suitable for this year, i think this is a creation, imagination and seeing future. Stella was looking like really barbie. I have to say that i hate open ending movies or moreover i dont like short movies but for this one i can break the rule. It was really good and meaningful, it deserves every awards really. Of course it is a science fiction i don't look logic too much but only one mistake (in my opinion) when stella didn't come to the opera, ( it is also stupid because you can organise your time before for that) when next door buddy invited her, she can understand at least. ( i mean how it can be possible) anyway. I loved the movie. It is good. Watchable and at least it gives sometbing new to us.

    "A Thought-Provoking Glimpse into a Digital Future

Reality+ is a captivating short film that explores the ethical and emotional implications of advanced augmented reality. Set in a futuristic world where people can enhance their perception of reality through technology, the film raises questions about identity, human connection, and the cost of living in a digitally altered world.

The storytelling is sharp, and the visuals effectively convey the sleek yet unsettling atmosphere of this near-future society. The lead actor delivers a nuanced performance, balancing the allure and alienation of living in augmented reality.

While brief, Reality+ leaves a lasting impact, making it a must-watch for fans of speculative sci-fi with a philosophical edge.

    A solid (and rare!) 10/10

I had no idea what to expect, and I was still blown away. The writing, the acting, the concept - all remarkably well executed. You've probably read other reviewers' synopses and/or seen the trailer before reading this review, so I won't get into that. Instead, let me just say that this is a very Black Mirror-esque short with a simple but really quite plausible (in 2024) premise. The script manages to introduce the Reality+ product to us, along with its pros and cons, very succinctly and logically. It also demonstrates human vanity in a very genuine manner without over stating it. The characters are few, and that is ideal - we only need the ones we're given. Finally, the runtime is perfect - this could have been stretched to an hour or so, but it didn't need to be - and I'm glad that the writer didn't feel the need to do so. Overall, a really entertaining watch, expertly executed, and one I would highly recommend.
