If a couple of parents gang up together to get rid of a teacher who "obviously" is bad for their kids ... does the teacher in question even have a fighting chance? This movie will answer that ... at least for this particular case. But it's not only parents versus teacher, it's also parents against each other.
It also depicts a couple of issues parents and teachers have to deal with in our society at this point. Maybe it'd be a touch better if it focused on that. And "Carnage" (also a theatre play like this one) is far better, though it concentrates only on parents, but some issues are the same here. The acting is nice and the story moves along nicely, especially if you consider the "restrictions" it has to deal with

Seen in the presence of Mina Tander (Adolf Grimme Award 2023 for NEULAND) at the INSELKINO (Island Cinema) Spiekeroog!
When the INSELKINO on the beautiful island of Spiekeroog reopened in March 2015, this witty comedy was the opening film. The wonderful Mina Tander, as a guest star, introduced the film and also talked about the filming and her own experiences with the school. It's quite possible that these charming comments have given me a somewhat exaggerated fondness for this film! But even after many years, I still say that this stage adaptation really isn't all that bad. Of course, clichés are presented, which are brought to life with great enthusiasm by the fantastic actors. I particularly remember Gabriela Maria Schmeide (unforgettable for me: her portrayal of Blanche DuBois in "A Streetcar Named Desire" at Theater Bremen in 2004) and Anke Engelke (host of the 2011 EUROVISION Song Contest in Düsseldorf). Anyone who works in schools knows that these stereotypes aren't just fictional paper tigers.
That's why I'm grateful for this German comedy classic, which was also quite successful at the box office back then. And I fondly remember that evening on Spiekeroog with the wonderful performance by the enchanting Mina Tander.
