    • Trivia
In an article for "The Welsh Agenda" in 2010, producer-director Colin Thomas stated that the programme was originally conceived as a single presenter vehicle for Wynford Vaughan-Thomas.

After finding his view of Welsh history differed from Wynford's, it was proposed that feminist historian Angela John should be the co-presenter, a suggestion which Wynford opposed.

Although many of the disagreements between Wynford and eventual co-presenter Gwyn Williams may seem good-natured at heart, Colin Thomas had his concerns, noting: "There were moments during the making of The Dragon when I was terrified that the tensions between its two presenters would cause the whole concept to fall apart."
    • Crazy credits
Despite performing essentially the same function in each edition, the credited roles for some of the music and animation crew members change from week to week.

These roles have been listed as they appear onscreen.
