a bit slow

Heidi (Lucy Fry) and Jane (Eiza González) are best friends in the American west. They're waitresses. Heidi works in a small diner and Jane works at the casino. Jane gets married and then one day, she goes missing.

It takes 40 minutes before Jane goes missing. That's too long and the start is a bit slow. While there are interesting scenes along the way, the ending is somewhat disappointing. I get leaving it unresolved to an extent. There are more compelling ways to do it. I also kept waiting to go out to a mine. The adventures could be more adventurous. Overall, the movie is too slow and it needs to take more risks.

Great cast and great acting all around.

The story tried, and had potential, but the director clearly needs help selling the story and especially the punch line of the story. Please just tell the story and keep yourself from squeezing little side issues into the story which muddle up the progression of the story. Secondly learn how to build up tension to the unique ending to the story.

I rate 3 cuz I cannot finish the movie

Watch for 30 minute and "missing" part still not come up, too blah and boring at the beginning. If I finish, maybe lower my rating.

What a mess

Some times some low rated movies are good for a Saturday afternoon when the ball game is rained out. Bright spot Lucy Fry.. A beautiful talented Australian actress. The main reason I watched this mess.

The other actors are talented, in fact the movie has a good cast. I have no idea what the writer were thing. In fact the writer and director are the same person. All I know, is that I never want to be on what ever she is on..

I understand the movie is about a girl searching for her best friend, but it is disjointed, rambles and makes no sense.

If you like looking at Lucy Fry or Eiza González; a beautiful talented Mexican actress don't bother watching. Watching rain fall on a baseball diamond is better than watching this mess.

Really very bad indeed

How can a director get things so bad with such a good cast??? It's the proverbial question when people go on quiz shows and clearly do not have an understanding of trivia let alone knowledge. This film shows that the director has basically seen the same film over and over again, nothing new at all and no ability. Ooooh look, petulant, misunderstood young girls either madly dancing or sitting in a circle with other equally drugged girls angry at everything, nope never seen that before. Drama it is not, dross it is, take note Irish Film Board, parents and husband ability does not equate to all family members being talented.

What the hell was this?

Cast was good, scenery was dry, and it had no substance. I kept waiting for something interesting to happen and when I thought I reached it, I was disappointed. And let's not talk about the ending.

Slow burn character study

This movie is not for everyone. It's a slow burn character study on friendship loneliness and poverty in the backdrop of small town life. There's not much story or ending. It's an artsy film where a girl looks for her missing friend and meets oddball characters. This kinda looking for someone movie has been done before like Under the Silver Lake and Heather Graham's Committed. Character studies can be fascinating like the Oscar winning Joker. You don't watch it for a coherent story but to appreciate the character development and drama. I don't know why but I strangely found the movie hypnotic and I'm not into artsy films where it's all style no substance. Eiza and Lucy are both gorgeous and amazing actresses who help the movie punch way above its mundane weight.

A Beautiful Meditation on character and the American west.

A lovely portrait of life in a classic American west tradition. It's nice to see more of a 60s head trip film that also makes a real connection to its characters. I loved it!
