    Like watching a train wreck

I will start this review with sincere comment to the many 14 year olds who are watching this series for the first time and think it is just absolutely wonderful. I know you are out there because SOMEONE keeps giving it ratings of 8 and 9 stars, so there is no use hiding. I see you.

First, if you are at all curious about what this story "could" be if it were properly done -- with solid writing, acting, directing -- then beg borrow or steal the original series and binge-watch. I realize only a small percentage of you will do this but that is OK, because those that do will have an edge on the rest, you will actually KNOW what this series could be, compared to what it is currently is.

What it is ... is terrible. One has to believe that as a condition of "re-birthing" this once-great series in a stratified and multi-channel universe, the suits at the network greenlighted a budget only a fraction of what was available when the original first aired.

And it shows. The idea of the multi-arc story worked in the original because each story was fascinating and almost hypnotic on its own. When they all came together later, that was merely the icing on the cake. Save the cheerleader, save the world. You had to be there.

This iteration is a pale shadow of the original. Not only are the arcs not interesting, the endless bad dialog and bad pacing and bad writing torture the viewer just like the EVOs themselves are tortured.

For example, the brother with no powers in the Avenger costume whose head is used to demolish a room; or the captive girl who is offered a chance at freedom by Noah, but (the audience is supposed to believe) prefers captivity and torture to his offer of freedom.

I realize that those of you with minimal life experience will not "get" this review. Which is why I say again -- watch the original. Then get back to me.

    • Goofs
During the party scene, a stack of beer cans are knocked over, but many of them stick together afterwards - even ones that had been knocked on their sides.
    • Quotes

Quentin Frady: I know we gotta get going, man, but I think I need to go to a hospital.

Noah Bennet: I told you I'd sew you up when we stop for gas.

Quentin Frady: Oh, what? With, like, dental floss?
