A very good movie, very well structured, almost philosophical

You might find this strange, but I compare this movie to "Groundhog Day". That's because both movies use the same approach to telling their stories. Let me call it the cinematic approach.

In "Groundhog Day" it is the repetition and variation of different takes during the process of shooting a movie that is integrated into the plot (e.g. Phil memorizing the course of action in one scene so he can react to it the next day is similar to an actor's memorizing a line partly repeated, partly varied in the next take).

In "3 Days" it is the arrangement and montage of scenes and situations from different temporal levels that is an integral part of the movie's plot. The hero is on a quest for his identity and his soul and the three temporal levels that he wakes up in correspond with the cinematic use of flashbacks or flashforwards when editing a movie.

By the way, the idea of everyone of us having to judge ourselves if it's heaven or hell in the afterlife is wonderful, I think. And the lighthearted way in which this idea is implemented is almost a piece of stoic philosophy.
