Never before have I seen such grace, such beauty, such flawless execution as Frog Kingdom. It was as if I had achieved Nirvana, every second of viewing I was mesmerized with the stunning animation and the fantastic story telling. Princess Froglegs is a realistic and strong female lead, something which we need to see more of in modern day film. She is a strong, independent frog who doesn't need any man. Honestly, I can't understand how there could possibly be a single negative opinion on this MASTERPIECE. My only grudge is that there were not enough lines from Devo, who is clearly the best character. The voice acting was brilliant, everybody felt so real and you could hear the emotion in their voice. By far the best actor had to be Serpent. It send chills down my spine, my heart racing as he spoke of his cunning plans to wreak havoc on Frogville. Truly a perfect film for all the family too enjoy, with fantastic role models and an enthralling storyline. Perfect 10.
Let me start off saying that I had high hopes for this movie since there are some big names in here, but that's all. The animation was terrible. The mouths barely moved when they talked. Deja Vu, kind of like a bad kung fu movie. I could only watch it because of my friends 7-year-old, but even she didn't like it. Honestly if this was in the bargain bin at Wal-Mart for $1.00 I would feel I spent too much money on it. It was terrible and there was no hope to give it more than 1 star. There was just no redeeming qualities at all. I would say to pass this one up, but then again maybe for the very little ones they may enjoy it.
Super animation, but disjointed in places. Good characters, but overall lacks the fluidity of other films.
The design and animation looked quite good at first, but then the voice acting is just so bad that it's had to concentrate on anything without cringing. It's like they hired amateurs, you can feel they are reading their text without even looking at the screen, worse, they all sound bored. Like, "I don't care what I'm doing, all I want is the money, let it end as soon as possible." Just another detail: as it deals with frogs in a watery scenery probably, I have been focusing on how the water is rendered from the very beginning, and that very first scene alone was screaming: "We're doing the minimum we can for it to look decent." A total waste of time would be my conclusion.
This is a bad film. The characters and story are very poorly developed even for a kids film. There is quite a lot of needless arguing and fighting between the friends in the film which really sets a poor example for small children and made the relationships seem very strange between the characters.
The animation doesn't add to the experience and there are a number of times when the movement of characters looks very unnatural. Mouth movements look like the film was probably made for the Chinese market and simply dubbed into English.
Probably the worst thing about the movie is some cringe worthy dialogue and action, which for a small kids film is often inappropriate. This includes one overweight female character being called a "chubbo" and another character asking one "Are you tripping?". There is also a scene where a male character marches in 3 girls hitting them with a bar to keep them in line. This ain't Toy Story. Do your kids a favour and give it a miss.
