The Many Sad Fates of Mr. Toledano

Mr. Toledano speaks on the radio and in The Many Sad Fates of Mr. Toledano. He says that the process of his unique creation over a 3 year period was "useful" for himself and others in grappling with death. However, as an Asian who is watching Mr. Toledano, I could not help but think about the relentless degrees of death that we see on the news in the Near & Far East; Asians may tend to reflect differently on dying. As a woman, I am compelled to think about the experience Toledano's wife (and mom & daughter) went through during that dark period of his creative life. Now, he is getting more fame with stardom...but is "useful" the word that people should use in watching the unraveling of one's own deconstructionism? Is this a cultural indicator of an increasingly self-absorbed society that cannot accept or talk about the realities of aging and dying?
