South of Hell could be a real winner with an increased production budget. The storyline is interesting and the show could easily become as big a hit as Supernatural. It's a shame WEtv didn't see the possibilities for the 1st season. I will give WEtv credit for stepping out and taking a chance on a non cookie cutter TV show. Maybe, next seasons production budget will allow the director to carry the show to greater heights. With so many shows of the past that went in a different direction only to later become SyFy icons, like "Firefly" but were killed off before the people had a chance to become fans. South of Hell looks to be a pop-icon in the making, we can only hope WEtv can have the foresighted vision and give the SyFy fans the warm up time they always need.
Watching the show brought me south to hell for sure ...
I forced myself through episode 1, which was hard enough.
The introduction was without love and very clumsy, not giving room for charakter development. It just felt like the intro of a cheap 90s series. Like a cheap combination of Buffy and Supernatural.
After episode 2 i stopped trying to give the show a chance.
The actors can surely do better, but with scripts like this there is not much room.
In summary: Poorly written show with poor special effects, cheaply produced. The cast that has potential, that's the only reason why i give 3 stars instead of 1.

South of hell was a great show , something great to go along with our horror TV series. Why havnt you brought it back for season 2 ?? I dont understand why good shows always have to end .
This is a new type of supernatural show that has promise but is lacking in execution regarding the story. This is mostly in part because the story is lacking in depth. This show seems to rely on a "Pivotal" moment of triumph regarding human nature triumph and or the main characters eating of a demon. But we all know in this day and age that we need that little bit of extra spark to cloud the usual bad versus evil and some flashy end to make it all seem worth while. It is hard to drum that up I know but writers need to think outside the box of story lines they grew up with to win a crowd to please the evil cop. Exec's. This show does have potential
.it really does I just hope the writers see it before it gets cancelled.
The accents are laughable, borderline bad, forced and inconsistent. The acting is not so great. This is probably due to the writing. I'm into just the second episode. The special effects are good enough to make you almost gag at times - for example when Annabel eats. I love Annabel's eyes. The way they portray the characters possessed is slightly different.
At this point, however, I am starting to root for Annabel and the demons.
And what is up with the mild mannered, cool and collective, sometimes strong arms, persistent priest? Is he really a Catholic priest, priest or just some guy pretending to be one?
