Mia oikogeneiaki ypothesi

This is an interesting film if you love Psarantonis, and probably if you love Greek music more generally. I have a new respect for his son, Georgis as a result of watching this. I mean respect and understanding of him as a person - the musicianship was never in doubt.

However, I found the focus on the grandchildren was a bit overdone. I gather that Psarantonis wasn't keen to participate in interviews, but I feel like the filmmaker was trying to get their 'revenge' for that by trying to show him in a bad light at times. You can't expect a film like this to have dramatic arcs, but they tried to create one about Apollonia's insecurities and her grandfather's (perceived) lack of interest. For a minute there, I thought I was watching an episode of Neighbours.

This would have been a better film if it had focused more on Psarantonis and Georgis' relationship and their music. What little insight we got made me hungry for more. Not a bad film, but a great chance to make a film about a great man was missed.
