Yes, I know, Andor was made to be deep and meaningful and different and authentic and blablabla, and that's all fine. But this show is like that person at a party that just likes to hear itself talk.
After 12 episodes, essentially what happened was rebels, politicians and imperials being stressed out, emotionally conflicted about stuff and having the odd nervous breakdown every now and then. Why? Because the showrunners thought it was realistic and authentic and therefore RIGHT. And yes, they were probably not wrong.
But being right is not enough if you want to create something great. Being right doesn't cut it if the result meanders its way through a dozen episodes, marveling in it's own existence and feeling empowered and beautiful because it's so wonderfully deep and meaningful and, well, right.
You can be all that, yes, but it doesn't mean anything if it wasn't also made to entertain people. And no, this show wasn't made to entertain people. It wants to entertain, I guess, but it definitively wasn't made to do it. Because that would mean that you sacrifice message for effect, right?
But if you want to be RIGHT and GREAT, you need to wrap your message in a story that has pace and rhythm, fun and adventure, a story, that's not burdened by its content but knows how to have fun with it without sacrificing the message. And doing that is so much harder, so much more difficult than just spilling your deep and authentic message all over the place, no matter how slow you do it.
Oh, by the way, it doesn't really matter to me when people say this show was supposed to be different. Because once, just ONCE, someone could just come along and prove, that they can still just make Star Wars the way it was intended to be: Like in EPs IV, V and VI. Just do that, please, I dare you, just make one thing that's just as good as the original films. Would that be so bad? After all, without those movies, there would be no Star Wars - and there certainly would be no Andor.

It's a common mistake to compare "Stromberg" with the original British TV-series "The Office". Though characters and stories have been copied, the German producers of the series changed the tone and style of the dialogues from the beginning. It is why the German version has been such a success and has already amassed a huge fan-community. Everything said and the way it is played is 100% German humor. And it is a comedic jewel in his own right. Those desperately trying to compare every little bit of detail with the British original fail to see that you cannot successfully transfer all subtleties into a foreign format. It would never be the same anyway. Those in favor of the British original should stick with it. The German producers took the format and changed it into something new. And all the actors follow the style of the show very very accurately. For the first time, German TV-makers have changed an original into something original.
