I was really intrigued by the commercials. It seemed like it would be very real and it totally was.

A VERY authentic take on the problems of some in the Caribbean community here in Toronto. I recognized the characters- they were not contrived and overdone. Young guys selling a little something to get by but it's no big deal. Some people getting big on their perceived position and power. Respect becomes an issue. Somebody dies for nothing- just to put a fear in people. The witness part- well I wish that was more realistic but it was a great idea of what COULD happen if people stood up. SO much of it was really AUTHENTIC to people I've known and things we have seen here in different areas of Toronto. The only poor part was SOME of the accents but overall, they were still good. MUCH BETTER than poor Denzel Washington's effort in The Mighty Quinn or Doug E Doug in "Where I Live." K.C. Collins was excellent through some major emotional crises and Mark Taylor was lovely. Mpho Koaho was definitely scary and foolish enough to be believable.

It was such a surprise to set aside time to see a Canadian... MADE-FOR-TV movie and actually find it to be great! I would have paid to see it. It should be a series.

I Feel the Niiiiiight Heat! I feel your HEEAAAAAAAAAART-beat! Something ain't right!" Theme song written by B.J. Cook from Skylark- David Foster's old band and wife. She also wrote the memorable theme from CBC's "Airwaves." OH Night Heat! What a program! Well-written, well-acted and totally classic. Crime solvers and a good team and a dash of humour at the end. I'd like to think this is really what detectives do/did. Giambone was a real favourite! On a Canadian tip, I learned EVERY Canadian actor's name and style from guest spots done on Night Heat. Everyone passed through the Night Heat set and like Law & Order, it was story-driven so you could just watch and enjoy without a lot of character melodrama.

I was lucky enough to see this at the Toronto Film Festival in 2005. It is an excellent film- tight story, exciting, rich characters, phenomenal acting...from NON-ACTORS. Reminiscent of KIDS but so much better because these guys love women, instead of trying to infect them. Has the same fast pace, families that disappoint, meeting up with friends, harm, trouble, petty crime. The story is basically about a teen and what he does on leave from juvenile hall/prison for the weekend, somewhere in Spain. So, so, so good!! Why hasn't this been distributed?? It would do well in the theatres and certainly on DVD if it had advertising. I was amazed with the quality of this film and that it had not been seen by many audiences. Someone should pick up this film.
