Finally after all these years watched the 1987 classic holiday film "Planes, Trains & Automobiles" from John Hughes(who was always the king on classic sentimental comedies from the 80's). Set in New York Steve Martin plays a stuck up ad executive who wants to get home to Chicago for the Thanksgiving holiday only as fate would have it he's grounded and delayed at the airport, and his journey takes him in a path that routes from automobiles, and trains and cheap motel rooms, all along while being with and traveling with his poplar opposite type a lonely and overweight good hearted soul played wonderful by the late super great John Candy! Overall this buddy road picture maybe is not the greatest still it's a nice funny like heartfelt holiday film to watch and enjoy!
All of us tv viewers remember the times of family drama and turmoil with J. R. and the Ewing clan in "Dallas", now enter this fire like and wild and blunt, brash new Texas set oil drama from Taylor Sheridan called "Landman" and it's an excellent winner in it's own kind of way. The acting is top notch from veterans and the words are well written and blend with pop culture and are witty and funny. Tommy Norris(this series is moved along by Billy Bob Thornton) is a tough sharp mouthed west Texas landman with deals with craziness with his family and corporate oil. The dealings are often shady involving bribes, payoffs, and even violence from the cartel as Tommy has to navigate it all. His family features hard working son Cooper(Jacob Lofland) an up and coming oil man and college aged daughter a young hell cat named Ainsley(Michelle Randolph) plus the biggest eye candy treat is Tommy's tempting and very sexy ex wife and once again partner Angela(the beautiful Ali Larter) and I must say some of the scenes with Angela rocks where she sports sexy colored bras!(remember her in a sexy red bra and one episode she wore a sexy pink bra she's some real eye candy!) Look for some all pro supporting turns from veterans Demi Moore and Sam Elliott. Overall this series is about family, being loyal, and being able to make it in the greedy Texas oil business. Overall it's one slick excellent modern western like drama to watch.
Always been a "Wizard of Oz" fan and I read and saw the "Wicked" play and saw the first film so you're right I returned to see the conclusion and final chapter "Wicked: For Good". And the film was entertaining and energy filled with music and again it's a journey of love, friendship, doubt, and trust! This time Elphaba(a fine performance from Cynthia) is well established as the wicked witch of the west, and she still is against the grain and challenges and questions the wizard. Still in conflict and dealing with her differences with Glinda(Ariana Grande) the good witch. Only things change with drama and accidents! As a house is dropped in Oz with a girl named Dorothy! Overall the production, design, and sets once again make it a tribute and a super great motion picture, really this was a fitting way to end this franchise!
