The Passenger is a low budget psychological drama about two coworkers Bradley (Johnny Berchtold) and Benson (Kyle Gallner). Bradley is a lonesome, unmotivated, hardworking young adult who gets bullied till Benson loses his cool and kills those around him. Benson takes Bradley for a ride around town to help Bradley with his past experiences with his ex girlfriend, his second grade teacher, and building his self-esteem to stand up for himself. These two gave a great performance, one couldn't exist without the other. Carter Smith directed and Jack Stanley wrote the screenplay. Overall great dramatic performances, something I didn't expect, definitely worth the watch.
Matlock is a new series on Paramount+ that stars Kathy Bates who uses the alias name of Matlock to take a job with the law firm that could have stopped the use of illegal drugs. Kathy is the heart and sole of the show and everyone else can be replaced. She definitely deserved to be nominated for her role and she should have won. This is not a spin-off, sure it is a legal drama much like Andy Griffith's show but far from it. Maddie's attitude as an elderly character that no one ever takes her seriously was her aim to join the prestigious law firm run by Beau Bridges along with his son who is played by Jason Ritter and soon to be ex wife Olivia (Skype P. Marshall). The weekly storylines were intriguing with some being relevant to current events. The rest of the supporting cast includes Leah Lewis and David Del Rio as new members of the firm and competing alongside Matlock. Sam Anderson plays Matlock's husband who is retired and primary guardian to their grandchild Alfie (Aaron Harris). The first season ended on a cliffhanger, waiting to see how Olivia would get her incrementing information to Matlock and we get to learn how Alfie's father plays out in further seasons. Overall I like this show, definitely will continue to watch further seasons.
Superman: Man of Tomorrow is an animated movie about the dawn of heroes when our favorite action hero is learning about his new job at the Daily Planet. The two villains are Lobo (voiced by Ryan Hurst) and the Parasite that was created by toxins from Star Labs that is run by Lex Luthor (voiced by Zachery Quinta). Clark (voiced by Darren Criss) and newly hot shot reporter Lois Lane (voiced by Alexandra Daddario) are just starting to get to know one another. In the meanwhile Martian Manhunter (voiced by Ike Amadi) helps to train Superman with his powers and to teach him how to cope with his emotions. Bellamy Young and Neil Flynn voiced Clark's parents. Overall great premise but it was a bit overwhelming especially with the struggles against the Parasite. I was like come on already there had to have been a better way to stop the antagonist. Great animation, good start to the DC animated universe.
