How many cliches can you fit into your show?
The tech nerd with a PC that can open car doors?
The feisty woman who sleeps around?
The trans one?
The bitter cop one?
The trainee one?
The best friend one?
And so and so on.
An interesting premise and based on a popular book, cast by ticking boxes, uninspired production, lackluster performances that I fear are done for a cheque more than anything and the end result is like a bucket of dirty ditch water.. cloudy, uninteresting and it stinks.
You can tell in the first 30 minutes who is who and where it'll go.
The first problem is the opening scene. The main character is chatting to someone she doesn't know, who's a bit of narcissist.. but she invited him back to her place anyway.. but a fight breaks out..
So she has to girl boss it. A man, 4 times her size, strangles her.. but he does it so lightly that she has time to look around the room, picked up a meat tenderizer and hit a fire alarm which miraculously starts the sprinklers and the big guy who's intent on killing her get suddenly distracted by a bit of water.. so she takes him down.. YEAH.... RIGHT... If a 20 stone man strangles an 8 stone woman, she's likely got seconds before she's deleted. Bit it's okay though, she still took the bloke home to the delight of nosey token best friend and her token trans friend.

Sue's his neighbour for lawyer fees after false reports.
Right from the get go you can tell this little man has insecurity issues. Judy usually.picks up on attitudes like this little fellas, but in their episode she allows him to interrupt, be jittery and pay with papers etc.
Judy focuses on the defendant as though the defendant had done something wrong. She hadn't.
She reported what she thought was a crime, twice.
That upsets the feeble little Douglas Auerbach.
He begins making lewd comments and threats to the ring camera of a woman 25 years younger than him.
It shows him for the feeble-minded, weak little man he is.
Now many people around the world has seen you Douglas Auerbach, insecurity taken out on a young woman. Pathetic.

I don't know who was thinking what when they cast The Angela Bassett, but they got it wrong when they asked her to do an accent. It's just so strangely off and weird, like she's trying to do an English person's idea of an American Doing a Royal Family Accent. It's distracting. Not quite from the Dick Van Dyke School Of Accents, but it's not good.
Luckily she's not in that much of the movie, the first 30 minutes or so.
And that's when the film starts btw. You could fast forward the first 30 minutes, watch it on 4x speed and get a perfect idea of what's going on.
The rest of the film gets progressively more predictable and clichéd from there.
If I had to sum up this whole movie in a couple lines, I'd go with: "That's a tough situation, gonna be hard for her to get out of that one" "Actually super easy, barely an inconvenience" "Oh really?"
But I don't wish to spoiler anything.
The cgi is meh.
The green screening is, meh the story is, meh the action is ok in parts.
A dull, mediocre and predictable movie that looks ok at times.
