Story is superb, acting is superb, and actors are superb. I had seen this movie almost 30 years ago and I wished to have a look again recently. I was filled the same emotion as past. The story is based on befriending of convicts somehow thrown into a penal and how they had to cope with sharing the sufferings int their own. Plotting an escape is very obviously developing in minds since being jailed and penalized that way is unbearably painful to them. Especially the final scenes where Dustin Hoffman lost the senses and utterly talking around, probably not aware of what and who surrounds still has still been in my memory despite the years past. Agony, pain shared is probably the main theme. I would recommend this unique masterpiece to anyone who would like to see something worth and to feel what a good movie would be!

It is just amazing foresight of Kubrick's imagination. Pure imaginative accomplishment from 60s to date and maybe the unforeseen future. Not for entertainment but for having the audience understand the depth of how human can go beyond the time in not superficiality and fake thoughts. A masterpiece giving the audience thorough awakening with thoughts which may go beyond it self. Perfectly done and presented to those who have appetite to comprehend the space-time and shaping human thinking. I am not aware to date such works recently and maybe will never. It is just amazing to see what genius Kubrick was.

It is a story which brings pure-hearten ones being sometime naive and kind but sometime frustrated to who are not known. The movie comes down from the golden age of Turkish cinematography by the purest and kindest generation ever. It reflects how a common-valued family can be formed of those who are respectful and kind. I believe this is a must epic which should be seen by those who care what makes a true human behavior with cherish to others. I recommend this movie to everyone who seek a peace even in the past. When I watched, I couldn't help watching again and again. Alongside this movie, there are some others in sequel, like 'Gulen Gozler' (Smiling Eyes), 'Neseli Gunler' (Joyful Days/time), which I strongly also recommend. All are best in the nation's best times of Turkish cinematography. The acting is superb. Such a skill I believe should be appreciated in full by any acting novices. Especially Munir Ozkul, Adile Nasit are superb and so devoted to masterpiece acting. Sener Sen is superb. He, whatever the movie he takes part, is such a huge actor. I believe he should be considered as a top all actors ever. Simply the movie portrays real good of being a 'one'. Enjoy!
