The ambition is Great! A series where swedens rich history is exposed step by step. The research is impressive, the scientists extremely knowledgeble.

But the host of the show is absolutely terrible. Total lack of charisma and everything he says sounds like bad acting. No empathy, no precense. He constantly looks like this is the last interesting job he has ever had. It seems that svt wanted a host that would be the opposite of the engaged and pedagogic scientists...

It seems like svt has dug deep in the barrel of swedish actors in small town theaters. Even though the dramatations of historcal scenes often are without speaking, the terrible acting shines through.

And the props... Looks like something from a high school-drama Class.

This is swedish tax-payer money at work. The elite of swedish producers at svt have done their best... public service in a nutshell.

This was a sacrilege. One of swedens most beloved litterary works, abused to unrecognizability. Key characters like Robert and Daniel are missing, and Kristina is a completely different character than in the books. The director is of course free to make any movie he likes, but its deeply offending to claim that this monstrosity has any similarities to The beloved works of Vilhelm Moberg. Its a completly diffrent story, and the name is just to get people to see it.

The actors seem to concur. They seem deeply disturbed to participate. Otherwise Great actors are dull as Wood, and the chemistry between them is non-existent. There are some Great adaptations of these works, but this would have been best left in the mind of the director.
