One of the most underrated suspense comedy of it time, "Paramedics" not only delivers laughs, but lets us probe into the fast paced workings of a paramedics life. Suspense and realistic accuracy usually doesn't yield good comedy, but "Paramedics" proves the exception to the rule. Director Staurt Margolin does an excellent job of combining the gritty, touch-and-go lifesaving (think "Bringing Out the Dead") with a heartfelt, aloof humor that seems to blend seamlessly into itself. For those of you who are technical nerds, have no fear! There is plenty of medical-speak spaced between heart-beating action. Whatever tickles your fancy, whether it be fierce, down to the second action, or good natured giggles, "Paramedics" has something for everyone. I highly recommend it.

I'm prime form, "Fraternity Vacation" proves to be the sleeper knockout shot of the mid-80's. Unlike other fraternity movies, "Fraternity Vacation" provides us with a slightly darker, more intimate side of the party animal lifestyle. I would compare this introspective comedy to classics such as "M.A.S.H." of even the great "Annie Hall" (blasphomy!). I make these comparisons based on the fact that "Fraternity Vacation" digs a little deeper into the motives and psyche of the frat boy. Why do they behave this way? How do their actions reflect youth culture as a whole? At what point will fun turn into consequences? These are all questions that "Fraternity Vacation" attempts to answerer. It sometimes gets a little to deep to the point where it gives the film a gritty feel, but it always maintains a lofty, fun vibe that carries through out the movie. With the Academy Award winning acting caliber of Tim Robbins behind it, "Fraternity Vacation" has the ability to make the viewer laugh and think at the same time.

After watching Wimps, I have come to the conclusion that it is one of the most underrated fraternity romps ever. In the midst of classics such as "Porky's" and "Animal House", "Wimps" cruises under the radar as a genuinely heart-warming romantic comedy, of similar quality to "Say Anything". But don't be fooled, folks! This vivacious, feel good comedy also delivers the laughs, and Louie Bonanno plays a pitch perfect neurotic that would make even Woody Allen blush! The role of the alpha jock, played with flawless timing by Jim Abele, gives the film a timeless "Beauty and the Beast" dynamic between Abele and the always beautiful Tracy Adams. The synergy between the actors makes the sum of the parts greater than the whole in this little known 80's gem!
