First off, it's a good show. A lot of dialogue is in Japanese so it feels authentic. The story arc is good and there are many details which are intriguing. What is the role of the Jesuits for example, the impact that some warlords are Christian, what is the history between the houses/clans. I really enjoyed the character of Kashigi Yabushige. Shane he seems to be on the wrong side.

But: some episodes drag. There is scheming but it's not on the scale of GoT (nor could it really). People raving over the accuracy also might need a pause. Aside from it being loosely based on history of the time, and there are some good details, I think the idea that they were all in place when the show is set is questionable. Seppuku was not fully formalised until later. And when it was, it had a detail that the show ignores-samarai sought to not fully behead when seconding. But that would be less spectacular.

I don't really understand a lot of the comments on here, both the ones in favour and against. I enjoyed the show for the most part. It's got an interesting mix of characters, and there's tension because one of the characters decides to leave their wife, which causes mayhem for the group of friends, comprised of three couples. It's not laugh out loud funny but there are plenty of amusing moments, mixed with mostly easy to digest drama. Where it really goes astray however is in the end of the second-last episode and the final episode, when the story takes a twist which just makes the whole show a downer. And totally takes the shine off of it. It wasn't necessary to go this direction at all. Given that the whole series tracks the original film pretty closely, I don't see why they needed to make this particular deviation which took the fun out of the whole thing.

This recent episode of the Charlie Brown TV/movie series captures the style and visual character of the original, with updated quality for the graphics (as you'd expect). It retains the visual look and the way in which the animation works (so the characters move in the same way as older ones). But the story lacks the original's story telling style. It is syrupy, with a sweet storyline that may be enjoyed by some (particularly if new to Charlie Brown) but lacks what made the original fun-the quirky ideas and behaviour and exchanges, the humour as they did things that reflected that they are children and infuriated their friends. There is a song in the middle, a song! And some things seemed silly-a plucked dandelion flower after a little while somehow regenerates as a dandelion clock (the fluff with seeds), which my daughter knew made no sense. And then the seeds drift off in a dazzling light show that seems out of keeping with the style of the show.
