This could have been an amazing movie about science and medicine and the ever-present issue with human morals. Indeed, for the first 70% of the movie, the story is quite good and very engaging. Then it seriously derailed into a D- attempt at being a horror flick, as if the script had been given to a middle-school aged kid with a head for gore to finish up. What a shame.
That means this is primarily a vanity piece for Demi Moore to.show off off her 62-year-old naked body over and over and over. Her body may be taut, but it still doesn't pass for that of a 50-year-old. That's the age of the character she is supposed to be playing.

First and foremost, this movie is a re-imagining of the graphic novel, -not- of any other movie. Yes, the lead characters are named Eric and Shelly (with her character actually a person, not a sketch). Yes, he dies and is brought back to life to right what was wrong. That is where the similarity between the two same-named movies ends.
Bill Skarsgård is.fabulous as the man who has never known love, as is FKA Twigs as the woman who has lived a damaged life for too long. Their romance, though short, begins and burns brightly,akin to the romances of Romeo and Juliet,or of Rose and Jack in "Titanic". At least half the movie is involved with telling their love story.
I very much enjoyed the blending of love story and revenge tale. I especially enjoyed the unexpected opera and the choreography of the fight scenes outside the stage with the dance moves on stage - well done!
I have seen this movie twice - yes, twice - and the ending brought tears each time. For those wanting tragic romance with heart, this fills the bill quite well.

I absolutely loved this movie. We get to watch the young woman - older teen, it seems, perhaps in a trade school -become more sure of herself and her place in society. The change is manifested without fanfare, by use of subtle clues that call for the viewer to be paying attention. Nice of the director to not play down to the audience. One of my favorite parts was the soundtrack. Absolutely fabulous music! I had to track down the songs so I could hear them again and again. This was the first film I'd ever seen from Mongolia, or this director, so I look forward to seeing more. I highly recommend it.
