The Matador is a simple movie between the bonding of friends - nothing beyond that. Fairly straight forward flick with minor plot twists, the Matador should be a good one time viewable material before you return it to Blockbuster and never think of it again. Businessman Danny Wright (Greg Kinnear) meets hit-man Julian Noble (Pierce Brosnan) in a bar and the adventure picks up from there. Although it never really arrives at an amazing climax, you'll enjoy some of its mellow dramatic jokes and certainly continue watching it till the very end eager to see what occurs next. The cold truth about this movie is that it's not insanely funny or violent but an average mix in between enjoyable for fans for all types of genres.

Continuing on, during one of his "cleaning" jobs, Julian (Brosnan) looses it and is unable to kill from that point on. His "agency" immediately turns on him and Julian is forced to seek refuge with his new found friend Danny. Danny and Julian however, never really set off on the right foot thus a hole for jokes and other types of witty remarks emerges. Before they realize it, Julian has one final chance to redeem himself in the eyes of his employers or its lights out for him. After a good very few scenes of seeing Julian beg Danny for help, they set off to do what no average man has done before. Will they be successful or will a horrible cliché death await them? Find out when you (hopefully) rent the Matador.

As a final note, despite me having absolutely no problems with the acting, I couldn't stand to see Brosnan playing the "bad" guy hit-man. For some strange reason, it was like riding a bike without the natural feeling kicking it. The conversations, dialogs, and screenplay were done well enough but it pained me to see Brosnan with a mustache playing a washed up hit-man talking (or rather begging every scene I should say) to a somewhat fit actor to play the role Kinnear. It shouldn't really get the best of you but if you're one of those picky persons like me, beware. Overall, this movie should make for a good rental (avoid the purchase though), and both actors did a good job, but if you ask me, Brosnan should of stuck with Bond for the time being.

I rented this movie thinking it would have been like The Day After Tomorrow, but boy was I wrong. Post Impact stars Dean Cain (known for being Superman from Lois&Clark, and the Ripley's Believe It or Not guy) and a bunch of other small time actors. The plot revolves around a meteor hitting Europe and sending it into an ice age. Sounds like a good movie so far, right? Well.. so far. However, the plot gets completely ridiculous where a 'bad guy' takes over some kind of satellite that could melt the ice but instead uses it to destroy cities (ironically in the same city the meter hit). So Dean Cain and a bunch of soldiers set out on a mission to stop him (the closer they get to him, the colder it gets). The movie gets incredibly boring towards the last half (unnecessary and slow gun fights) with a rather hilarious ending that defeats the entire purpose of the movie. Also, very horrible special effects and mediocre acting; lots of goofs (i.e. going outside in -50C temperature). My suggestion is to pass it up and to completely forget it ever existed.

Set in the distance future and in a place far far away, Screamers is an excellent sci-fi flick about two warring entities whom both have been long since forgotten. For the past 10 years, Sirius 6B has been shaped by the face of nuclear war and now it will be shaped by a another, more smarter, and aggressive entity called a Screamer. A Screamer was a man-made robot (sent to help one side) complete with an advanced A.I. who lurks beneath the ground waiting for its prey. Waiting silently and patiently. But little do both sides know that this man-made robot has got a few tricks up its own sleeve. Screamers is a amazing movie that features lots of suspense, plot turns, and a few good comedy scenes of its own. If you enjoyed Pitch Black or Red Planet, this is a great movie to add to your collection.
