I went in with high expectations considering the high rating and because I like horror films. Sadly I was let down. There is no horror whatsoever in this film. Ok so then it is a ghost story? Nope, not even close. I mean a ghost story would imply at least one creepy jump scare. So no horror, no creepyness. This was worse than Casper the ghost. At least in casper we get to see a ghost. All this film has is a "presence". My fridge has more of a presence in my house than this ghost had in the films house. No joke. Ok so it's a drama then? Sure.... In a way. But it wasn't even a good drama if you ask me. There is one simple plot and the film is over before the story even gets started. I don't think it was all bad. But it certainly wasn't any better than a recent Nicholas Cage film I watched called Looking Glass. In fact I would go so far as to say every single Nicholas Cage film I have watched has been better than this film. Some of his films only get ratings of 4.5-5 stars. So what rating should I give this film with such a poor and lacking plot and the film ending so abruply? I think a rating of 5 is being generous. Like said it's not that the film is bad. But I have watched thousands of better films in my life. This is below average story wise and I honestly do not understand a current rating of 6.7. Maybe the simple family drama that is the main presence throughout this film is appealing to some but to me I have been entertained more by most tv series. If you have low expectations then by all means give it a go, it's not boring but with a runtime of 80 minutes most tv series episodes will be more entertaining and have more of a plot than this film has.

I read the two previous reviews and was a bit dubious. One called it something a turd had landed on and the other called it a hidden gem.

So I felt I had to give it a looksie and see what this was all about. So if you like the Mayfair witches and Twilight this will be your kind of film. Basically along the same vibes as Buffy the vampire slayer and charmed. Nothing new here and the story had far too many holes in it. I did watch it to the end and was more dissapointed in this whole film than thinking it was a hidden gem. Maybe it's because this whole female vampire/witch chick flick concept has been used more in my lifetime of film watching than most other concepts.

But if you want to waste a bit of time on a rainy afternoon this is not the worst choice. I give it 5 stars. Nothing worth watching more than once and certainly nothing to add to top films to recommend but not a complete waste of a film like some directors outputs out there. Some will certainly enjoy this more than me.
