Only watched this because Chris Packham was a guest and ended up embarrassed for Chris and for the other guests as well. All guests smiled their way through and did their best but it was excrutiating. It does give TFI Friday vibes because it's attempting the same chaotic fun but this show is puerile without reason and with a very low attention span - each segment is short and whips to something else before you really work out what the point is. I spent the whole thing wondering what on earth the crowd are finding to cheer about? Why are the crowd so happy? Nothing much is happening. I do love the idea of the GB News parody, but it isn't done very well. I think this show would improve with a bit more political bite and interesting chat, and less pointless fluff, but maybe that's just me.

Woman gets accidentally pregnant by unimaginably hunky, sexy, pleasant and well-behaved American man, who then not only stands by her and marries her, but has another child willingly with her and treats her like his queen. He sticks up for her when people are mean, spoils her with treats, takes her to Paris, they have years of fantastic sex together, buys a large posh London house for them to live in as a contented family and becomes an unrealistically perfect husband. And yet the woman finds numerous things to continue to moan about.

Yes, I am bitter and I can tell you from experience that this isn't what normally happens after a whoopsadental pregnancy. Why is this titled 'Catastrophe'??? This is like watching a dream life and we're supposed to find something catastrophic about it? She gets pregnant by accident, which is a worrysome predicament -BUT!- it turns out perfectly for her. Two children, a beautiful home, perfect husband who loves her, treats her well and doesn't cheat. He earns enough so that she doesn't even have to work! And she has perfect hair in every episode! What mum has time for that in real life?!

The title would be more appropriate if the accidental pregnancy followed a more realistic course and she struggled through the next twenty years as a lone parent with financial debt and a council flat, reassessing her life every weekend and wondering where it all went wrong. THAT would befit the title. The title for this show ought to be - 'My god, how did I get this lucky?'! Is this supposed to be an 'ordinary' life that we can identify with? This show is so middle-class and privileged and yet doesn't even seem to know it. It has some amusing moments but nothing that made me laugh out loud. To be fair I have only managed to make it to the middle of S2.

I had hoped that the presence of Carrie Fisher might make me love this more, but she feels a bit wasted in this. Sharon Horgan has written some great comedies but this is not one of her best. I think I'll stick to watching Motherland which is infinitely more relatable.
