This is like if you took the odd dream cross-overs of 'The Science of Sleep' (Michel Gondry) or 'The Fall', in a world that's like the retro future of 'HER' but less utopian and more real/worn down, like 'I'm Here', the psychology akin to that of 'Inside Out' and a hint of the T. V. A. Agency from 'Loki'.
This piece starts slow but actually hits you right in the feels... if you have any empathy.
I was surprised at how deep and healing this mini series can be. And it doesn't feel like a series. I kind of think back of it as a long movie I watched in 2 sittings.
I love how this is filmed, you can feel the tangible practical sets and effects. And the look/vibe of this is very fitting.
From the poster and trailer I never expected this to be the kind of film it actually is, and sadly put off watching it for a long time. I get why it might be underrated.
Really go watch this if you're a fan of personal growth, psychology, good filmmaking and don't mind a bit of unconventionality. It's really refreshing and artfully crafted.

The intro was spectacular action, really cool and in a style I love to see in SW universe. But then Disney does their thing and puts up a children's program. It's not terrible, but it's also not making me feel much either. For example the dad and the relation with his son aren't really deepened, so we don't feel with him how much he cares about his son. Missed opportunity that would have easily been fixable with a bit more exposure on their family.
As per usual the acting and character backstories are somewhat lacking.
I hope the story really goes somewhere in future episodes, this one might not be as bad as previous shows, but it's giving me mixed signals of what it's trying to be. A funny kids family thing? A space pirate journey? Some crucial but never before shown part of Star Wars main lore? And yeah it's visually all stunning and top notch production.
Also why is the second episode just 25 minutes short? Felt cut off way too early.
6/10 for now, might be 7/10 or more if the writers do their best. (Andor Still holds best character arcs and story event progression that gets the audience invested in the rebellion uprising that unfolds)

I have to say the best parts revolve around Baylan, Shin and Morgan going out to find Thrawn. Very exciting to see things unfold and discover their motives.
This reminds me of that one Book of Boba-Fett episode that was great: which was an all-Mandalorian episode actually.
And sadly the mediocre acting or lack of interesting directing is still a thing; but limited to the parts of Ahsoka and Sabine (Who didn't get much screen time this episode). Honestly the way they wrote and directed Sabine's part is showing to be lacking, it could be so much more deep and emotional. The action parts are good, but they chose to make her interactions with others as exciting as a wet newspaper.
