The premise of this film is that Australia is invaded by an unspecified Asian country.

A group of Australian teenagers take on these Asian hordes and .... This film is a must-see if you like wooden acting, terrible scripts, and lots of explosions. What puzzled me was why they bothered to fight at all? I mean, could Australia being ruled by Asians be any worse than Australia being ruled by Australians. The film is based on a series of Australian children's' books. I haven't read them, and certainly won't be after the evidence of this clunker. I hope for the sake of Australia's reputation that it is never released overseas. If it is, or if you happen to see it on the shelves of your DVD store, please watch out. Do not touch. You have been warned.

A director with a great eye for detail creates characters you really get to know and love. The film is carefully shot and very moving. The visual detail is simply amazing. For instance, the scenes that show the main character at work really build up a picture of this particular job. To mention anything at all about the plot would be to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it. It's better not to know what to expect in a film like this, especially since it doesn't fit into any of the usual pigeonholes. The script is so well written that each surprise seems quite inevitable when you think back on it. And seeing it a second time, you get to appreciate the amazing photography. The performances are totally convincing. The best film I've seen in ages.
