I think Merthe is a sweet girl. This was not her fault, perhaps a bit naive. How something like an innocent facebook invitation could get out of hand is truly unbelievable. Therefore, it is a bit of an ok documentary to watch, but otherwise not very interesting. The short-haired man from "Stuk TV" could use some work on his English. That was annoying.
The documentary doesn't add anything about how this could have happened, group behavior, police statements, etc. More time could have been spent on that to make it a bit more interesting. That's a missed opportunity.
PS: In a few reviews, it's said Merthe laughed when she was talking about the rumor she heard of two deaths. Her laughter is clearly one of uncertainty, and right after she falls silent and cries.

Pretty average documentary on an important, shocking subject.
Unbelievable that it is legal in the US for parents to consent to strangers pulling their children out of bed, kidnapping them and taking them to a place where they will be abused, humiliated and starved.
What I found very annoying about the doc was the amount of attention paid to the daughter and ex-wife. Very narcissistic and superficial people.
At the hands of their father/husband, a child died, others were subjected to extreme conditions and there was even sexual abuse. None of them said anything about the pain and suffering of the victims. The daughter almost burst into tears when she talked about that scary news helicopter that flew over their house. Really??
And then having the courage to say that her father was not to blame because he was almost never there.... Are you then just stupid, or do you have a disgusting mentality, or is it both?
As another reviewer said, this may be intentional from the doc makers. They show the stark contrast between people who are scarred for life on the one hand and those two who whine about losing money on the other.

Solid documentary. It could have been a little less one sided. I understand from another documentary that there's some incriminating evidence than if it were purely self-defense (such as a recorded telephone conversation between Lyle and a friend).
We can't know for sure what happened behind closed doors in the Menendez family, I'm inclined to believe them.
In any case, what the documentary certainly achieves is that you will find the brothers more sympathetic than the first prosecutor (Pamela Bozanich), even if they were cold blooded killers.
Her behavior and attitude will infuriate you. She comes across as a typical narcissist. But perhaps because of her defensive behavior and certain things she says, you get the impression that somewhere she knows that she might have been wrong.
Her latest comments are ridiculous ("The only reason we're doing this special is because of the TikTok movement to free the Menendi" and "If that's how we're gonna try cases now, why don't we just, like, have a poll? You present the faces, everyone gets to vote on TikTok, and then we decide who gets to go home"). What is wrong with her to make such statements??
Finally, she threatens Tik Tok people who have a different opinion than herself by saying that she is heavily armed. Sounds like an aggressive toddler.
I just had to get this off my chest. Thank you.
