This was my husband's and my 1st time watching Johnny Mneumonic 28 years after release. We've wondered if it's better for that.
We appreciated the creative approach to the sci-fi story which was interesting enough to keep our attention but not too Intricate to lose focus.
Special effects were dated but that's to be expected.
The plot was intriguing, the acting decent, casting good, writing alright, and overall a fun to watch flick. It is not academy award winning, but is entertaining.
I'm surprised of the overall lower score, and think perhaps it wasn't as appreciated in its time.
There was never a dull moment. It was a suitable choice for a stay at home Sat movie night.

Parts of the movie were interesting: it had a good plot, and a base for character development. It dropped the ball when it could have ran with it. My husband and I kept waiting, waiting for something to happen and it was flat.
There were a few chuckles, but overall it was a drama not a comedy.
The scenes were strung together and it seemed more like a series of skits than anything else.
At least some scenes were good, but overall neither of us would ever watch it again nor recommended it.
Too bad, because we like Jake Johnson. He seems to play the same character he always does, himself, and it would have been entertaining if the writing was better.

The title sounds like it would be a gripping, thrilling suspense flick. It wound up being a less than mediocre slow burn character building movie with too many holes to take seriously.
My husband and I were surprised to learn Clint Eastwood was involved, we would not have expected that. Some filming was creative and some scenes were impressive. However, many of the characters and their actions were not believable.
We got that the movie was supposed to create discussions afterwards, but it was more about how the movie went wrong in so many ways.
I don't understand how this is rated so highly. The premise was interesting but the execution lackluster.
We debated turning it off halfway through and I held onto hope that something exciting was going to happen but never did. It was a long set up for disappointment.
On the plus side, there were a lot of familiar faces cast, some performed better than others, but it's still nice to see a wide array of experienced actors.
