I know many will see this episode simply as atmospheric at best - but to me, this is television at it's absolute finest.
The pacing, acting, shots, locations settle the viewer in for the final Goliath season. Thornton's hand at the controls, as director really displays his artistic chops and understanding of the medium.
I am not a patient TV viewer, especially at this point of my life, half century gone by. But I will soak up an episode like this like a dry sponge thrown into water without complaint or any desire to fast forward ahead.
Billy is now in SF, living in a China Town apartment, figuring out his PTSD from the previous season's events. Patty ropes him into yet another massive case dealing with opioid profiteering by pharmaceutical company. Nothing is really revealed outside of time and place, but a foundation is set for the expected series of discoveries. The whole episode is foreshadowing.
This may sound harsh - but perhaps not for everyone? You need taste, culture and art appreciation.

Astonishingly hight level AAA production around a good movie with an excellent cast.
But this movie did not... engage me, mostly because I disliked every character except Defoe, found the lessons obvious, and motivations predictable. I really did like the end, the highlight to me is a leisurely stroll taken late in the movie with truly hilarious dialog that requires all the films content up to that point to work.
About that production - this movie absolutely glows. It's a spectacular visual movie, and really just all around flawless production.
This is where the reviewer is supposed to say, "should of been a classic," "squandered potential..." or something witty, but tbh... It's just a good movie. Fans of Defoe get Another stellar character/performance, perhaps time truncated. I know I'm underrating the direction and acting. Well worth a watch.

Bafflingly irreverent episode that really makes me hope this show entirely goes away... Harsh, but Gunn has a track record at this point, and his projects Do Not Improve.
Very hard for me to believe that the guy responsible for Slither and Super had devolved into the person who wrote this final episode. Rarely am I this frustrated with entertainment, but the 45 minutes of exposition, just so an open ended final scene could be tacked on for another season is unforgivable.
Time to throw out the baby with the bathwater on this one... what a garbage ending to an otherwise decent action/comedy. I am Done with James Gunn. Three stars for the crew, and technical staff - who's murmurs should of been heeded.
