Well, I did not walk out of a cinema screening this movie on its release, but I would surely have done so had I been in a cinema at the time. The movie's poor scenario simply leaves the viewer with much to be desired. It lacks that convincing verve of a true cohesive action movie and settles for an almost plodding style that feels more as if "making something up as one goes along". I do not know if the movie moved something inside the surfing community's aspirational pride but considering the ten star reviews it must have done. Although for me a surfing board is a challenge too far, I will, however, remember to pick up some... Corona beer, next time I am near a sunny beach.

I would agree with the "Terrible Movie" snd "Waste of time" 1 Star reviews, rather than the "Pure genius" and "Fantastic film" 10 Star reviews. It is a simple movie, that has a touch of home made movie feel about it, with a simple, linear and predictable scenario of a plot that is unlikely to leave the viewer head scratching and chin rubbing, in wonder or in a state of confusion or mental uncertainty.

To its credit however, it does have some funny breaks and that is all down to the accomplished Brendan Gleeson, who is playing the role confidently well, in true Irish, cool, amusing, tough and straight faced tongue-in-cheek.
