A trio of longtime friends and former co workers get shafted on their pension money and devise a plan to rob the bank that's ultimately putting the screws to their golden years. Joe( Caine), Willie( Freeman), Al( Arkin) are delightful and have great chemistry here, not a roar out loud comedy, but fun situations, watch for the elderly lady in parking lot scene, I nearly hit the floor. Also extra entertaining is a very senile Christopher Lloyd, yelling " Were all out of cocaine" at the cotton candy booth during a fair. One of the more recent comedies I would consider rewatching at some point takes some notes Rogan, Farrell. Braff is quite effective at directing and incorporated elements of other great elder comedies like Grumpy old men in the ending. 4/5.
Roger Moore is Gary Fenn, A playboy ad executive looking for his next model. However she has led him into a world of double crossing and espionage. Watching this you get a sense of Roger's Bond mixed with Cary's Charade. It's a lower budget fun romp with actions, chases, humour. A great sequence with a chopper and a gunman suspended from a harness. That scene alone better than some of the 60's Bond action. The titles look like they were designed by Bond crew. I'm not sure why Roger's non Bond films have lower ratings I think his pictures were highly entertaining. For those of you not familiar.with Sir Roger, give his Bond films a try, alot more fun than the Craig era, along with The naked face, The man who haunted himself, and Crossplot. 4/5.
Jack Chester is an over worked air traffic controller, whose boss forces him to take a vacation. He packs up the car and brings the family to Florida. Mishaps and mayhem ensue, but more of a snicker or titter mishaps, not the laugh out loud kind of fun of Chases Vacation films, or the more superior Candy family classic The Great Outdoors. This film is an oddity its tried to balance a comedy and drama, as the first act feels different from the second. The best characters are Jack, Scully, Archie the dog. After the owner of Jack's summer rental house dies, a multi win sailor who dislikes Jack takes him up on a sailing race, in order to complete his vacation. There seems to be some rushed editing and a cameo from John Larocquette as a divorcee who purchases Jack family movie tickets while Jack was at home in a cast which felt like there should have been more there. The neighbour Vicki showing off her new knockers to everyone will either be enjoyed or loathed. An ok film, but not a gem. 3/5.
