Chhaava features a powerful performance by Vicky Kaushal, who steals the show as Sambhaji Maharaj, showcasing his valor and intensity. The background music, especially by A. R. Rahman, enhances the film's emotional depth, although it sometimes overshadows the storytelling. While the narrative starts off slow and feels disjointed, the last 20 minutes deliver a gripping climax that truly saves the film, making it an engaging watch despite its earlier shortcomings. The film ultimately serves as a commendable tribute to a lesser-known historical figure, leaving audiences with a sense of pride and inspiration.
The plot is interesting, and it grabs your attention right away as it is set during the Kurukshetra war, which was a critical juncture in the epic. However, the story then jumps forward 6,000 years, and the next 60 minutes of the film are quite boring, filled with unnecessary action scenes.
The story starts to pick up once Amitabh Bachchan (who plays the character of Ashwathama) takes over the narrative. Prabhas' role as a bounty hunter is decent, but Amitabh Bachchan steals the show with his performance.
In terms of the scale and visuals of the film, director Nag Ashwin is well on his way to becoming another big-league director. I'm proud of the Telugu film directors and their ambition.
I strongly recommend taking kids to watch this movie, as it can help them connect with the great epic Mahabharata and the Kalki avatar. This entire 3-hour movie is just the setup for the next two parts of the story.
I enjoyed the film even more on my second viewing.

Honestly, it's not that bad what reviews are, certainly the first batch viewers may have different agenda. Trivikram is missing M S Narayana, Darmavarapu Subramanyam, Brahmanandam, we clearly see that void. It is out and out Mahesh Babu movies, full of mass characterization, intentionally he kept himself away from a social message, people got bored of social messages. Certainly don't look for dark stories like KGF, Salaar, not every movie and every viewer is expecting such kind of movies. Srileela justified her role, though not much scope. Prakash Raj gave a decent performance. Thaman music was okay. Overall timepass.
