Continuing my plan to watch every George Clooney movie in order, I come to his first biggie From Dusk Till Dawn.
Alright ramblers, let's get rambling. I have a real soft spot for this movie, as I went to see it with my late sister. What we had wanted to see (I forget what it was, I'm thinking Money Train or 12 Monkeys, but I'm not sure) had sold out, and this was the next movie starting, when I suggested it, she said "I don't want to see Gorgeous George play a bad guy" l won and we went to see it.
This was my introduction to George Clooney. I had seen Combat Academy, but despite that, when he appeared in Friends, I knew him as the guy from ER, despite having never watched it. Right out of the gate, in his first decently budget movie, Clooney establishes himself as a charismatic movie star, who can actually act. The comedy comes easy to him and he strikes the perfect balance between that and the hard ass character that Seth Geko is. He is a bad guy, who will kill, but he doesn't go out of his way to hurt people, is disgusted by his brother's actions, but loves him, and is actually angry when he realises what's happened to Jacob, showing he has a heart. This will always be my favourite George Clooney role.
That said, I genuinely love this movie. Written by Quinton Tarantino and directed by Robert Rodriquez, this is a blast from start to finish.
Tarantino gives the best acting performance of his career as the unhinged and paranoid Richie, going against type, Harvey Keitel is sensational, Juiliette Lewis is surprisingly convincing, as the Mom's Apple pie daughter of a preacher, back in 1996 this was my introduction to Salma Hayek (I hadn't seen Desperado) and WOW!! I have been a fan ever since!! This was one of the first times I noticed Danny Trejo, too. Cheech Marin makes me smile with his three roles as does Tom Savini (Sex Machine) and Fred Williamson (Frost) John Saxon and Kelly Preston have cameo's and I have to give a shout out to John Hawkes as the liquor store clerk
There is hardly anything I can say to criticise this picture
Now, this surprised me. On a budget of $19 million it grossed $25 million at the domestic box office. Though that does not seem a lot. It really found an audience on home video and was enough of a success to green light two dtv sequels and a TV series. From Dusk Till Dawn was the 68th highest grossing movie of 1996.

I just got out of Weapons
I'll say from the off, this is the best missing person movie, I have seen in years, but it wasn't the horror movie, I was expecting. There is certainly enough there, to classify it as a horror, but I'd say it's a thriller with horror elements. The horror here is very effective!!
It is unpredictable, deliberately paced and uses non linear story telling. Which can irritate me, when it's not done right. Luckily, they get it right here and I liked how they did it.
Of the cast, Julia Garner is great, I really felt for her, Josh Brolin is brilliant, I can't imagine anyone else in the role (Sorry Pedro). Alden Ehrenreich and Benedict Wong are both as good as you'd expect and it was nice to see Amy Madigan (Field of Dreams) in a stand out role.
The best thing I can say about this movie is everything in it, felt very real. You believe everything and every character!!
I have a few issues with it (but want to keep it spoiler free), but I had a great time with it. I recommend everyone goes and sees it, before it is spoiled for them.

Continuing my plan to watch every George Clooney movie in order, I come to 1993's TV movie Without Warning: Terror in The Towers.
This is based on the 1993 bombing attack on the Twin Towers in New York.
I find it crazy they made a movie and had it air on TV, three months after it actually happened. I liked the the film's use of original news footage to develop the sense of reality!!
It was great to see James Avery (Uncle Phil in The Fresh Prince of Bel Air) and I love to see Andre Braugher (Captain Holt in Brooklyn Nine Nine) as for Clooney, he plays a nice fireman (we know he is nice as he tries to give a homeless man money after already giving him a big jacket and he stops a rodent being killed) who attends the emergency
This was directed by Alan J Levi, who directed a lot of popular TV shows and he does well here. Outside of the core cast, some of the acting from certain people, is not great, though.
It kind of rushed towards it's conclusion, which is a bit unsatisfying. But I certainly think it's worth a watch.
The full movie is available to watch on YouTube.
