The character is so amazing. Ray is the man. He does good, he does bad but has so much self control. The first Aussie film noir I enjoyed was THE HARD WORD with Guy Pearce and Joel Edgerton but this series trumps that any day any year.
Ray Donovan has nothing on The Aussie Ray Shoesmith. This Ray is build rugged and raw with just the right enough finesse. The army training is mostly recognized with his calculated methods. He also has tunnel vision when tasked with a job, very reliable friend, father and boyfriend. How did Scott Ryan write himself into a great character?
I keep telling my friends that Aussie acting talent is gonna take over Hollywood. I hope somewhere in the near future we can get another spin-off.

Deon Meyer does not sell his novels like the likes of Grisham, Deaver, Clancy, Ludlum or any best sellers out there..
Yet they make adaptations to his books like they'd engage audiences, this persistent ploy hasn't merited even one nomination from the Emmys nor BAFTA. They made two tv series, Trackers and Devil's Peak are nothing special. On the other hand, a spin-off from a Devil's Peak character was written and made into a film. Night of the hunter is the Netflix made south african film, basically Meyer loved his assegai killer so much he devoted a novel.
Why always casting Sisanda Henna?
He's in all three productions. In Trackers he's a antagonist named Nkunzi. In Night of the Hunter he's a corrupt politician. In this series, devil's peak he is the assegai hunter himself.
It's either the screenwriters are not good or basically the books aren't great...

It's gonna be an 8.8 when all the episodes are at binge level, meaning once they are all in. This series has a 5 part episode as the PILOT. The story is superb and my only problem is the opening credits, it's too 007 thematically and musically. The song is similar to Sam Smith's SPECTRE soundtrack "Writing's on the Wall"!
I've enjoyed the five episodes because of the acting, Eddie Redmayne is proving to be a great talent. Lashana Lynch also picking up from where she left off in No Time To Die. However there are many elements like the cinematography, the production design, the music, the costume design. This series also proves to me that cinema will eventually come second to SVOD television. PayTV is going to be the leader in content creation. The key production personnel are all unknown. From producers to the writer of the series and directors were SKY STUDIO's gamble of which UNIVERSAL NBC under their SVOD baby PEACOCK backed as a partner. This anthology is compared to the NIGHT MANAGER and THE NIGHT OF.
