Hi everybody,
I've seen "Vozvrashhenie" as soon as it was released. This is a film which is so unique and strange that it deserves to be recognised on international level - and it was.
I've read in other comments that the film is set almost nowhere(I don't remember exact quatation, sorry) , but as a Russian, I can say that it is filmed somewhere near Ladoga lake near Saint-Petersburg. The landscapes are very typical for this area.
What fascinated me in this film is that it very true: the life shown in "Vozvrashhenie" is so real, that it frightens. That is why this film is so unique: there is no great scenes or anything so typical for "American standard" films. The film requires lots of thinking: for example the father doesn't explain where he had been all those years (it may be a prison or some criminal background - my point of view).
I didn't see any mentions that there is humour in this film: at least when I saw this film in cinema many people laughed at the smaller brother who was rebelling against his dad. His behaviour is so real.
The film aroused many emotions for me. Personally I found it too stressing - the figure of dad is so strange, but if he was just an ordinary father who tries to make peace with his sons by doing everything they want, the film would not be so good. That is a real life, it is strange, but that is the point.

Hi everybody, I think that film "Prikhodi na menya posmotret'" is certainly one of the traditional Russian films, because it shows a typical Russian family in a typical communal flat. It's humour can be understandable mainly by Russians, because some ideas and misunderstandings (between Igor and an old lady, for example) are caused by the differences in thinking between soviet and post-soviet generations.
The plot of the film is rather typical: lonely lady meets unexpectidly her love, but it is presented in a very humorous way, the film makes you not only laugh, but also believe that there is always hope to live. It is a remarkable Russian film, I believe. With respect, Juberinje
