I know remakes are a tough sell, but The Crow (2024) stands tall as a worthy update to the 1994 classic. I was reluctant to watch it because of the negative reviews on IMDB. I was obsessed with The Crow character and the James O'Barr graphic novel and the 1994 Brandon Lee fil when it came out. It was my favorite film.

Now lets talk about the remake (actually, I wouldn't call it that because it's based on a graphic novel and retelling of the same story).

It captures the essence of the graphic novel while delivering a modern twist that feels fresh and relevant. For fans of the 1994 film or newcomers, this movie offers something special.

The action in this version is intense-gritty, raw, and unrelenting. Each fight scene is drenched in blood and choreographed to perfection, delivering a visceral punch that keeps you hooked. It's easily one of the most exciting action films of the year, and it doesn't shy away from the brutality that fits this dark, revenge-driven story.

Visually, the film is a great too. The city feels alive-dark, atmospheric, and full of character. The rain-drenched streets and moody lighting are a nod to the original but enhanced with today's visual effects, making every scene a feast for the eyes. I loved the score of the 1994 film and even though the 2024 one doesn't have my kind of music, I still really enjoyed it.

While honoring the emotional depth Brandon Lee brought to the role, Bill Skarsgård brings his own take that feels just as powerful-full of pain, rage, and a quiet intensity. You feel the weight of his journey without it ever feeling forced or overdone.

I've seen some mostly negative reviews floating around, but honestly, this movie doesn't deserve the backlash. It respects the original while adding its own flair, and it does so without losing the heart and soul that made The Crow so iconic. It's not a rehash; it's a loving tribute with the energy and style to stand on its own.

If you're a fan of dark, moody action films or just looking for something visually stunning and emotionally resonant, The Crow (2024) is worth your time. It's a film that deserves a lot more credit than it's getting.

I went in with an open mind and really wanted to enjoy the sequel to Black Panther but instead of a good film, I got a 'film' that uses over the top emotional scenes to cash out on 'Tchala' RIP. This is another dud and I'm extremely disappointed. The score was good and some scenes were okay but overall, this is a cash grab. 1/10.

If you're still interested in watching this movie, I would recommend you save your money and wait until it is out on a streaming service. Do not waste your time and money on a drawn out drivel of a movie with no story and character development instead, this is cashing out on the success of the previous film's success. Shameful.
