The movie was truly sinister and if you know about the real ancient beliefs of Sam Hain, and Halloween, there are people that would try something like this out there, which makes the movie watchable to reveal just how sinister society secrets can be and just how obsessed and truly hateful people can be. So you cannot criticize something that for some reason I have watched 50 times or more in my life. Something about it is mesmerizing. I am also a victim of a secret society so this movie hit home. In the ancient times sacrificed of children, animals and people did indeed take place and are indeed taboo subjects. I believe they still go on today, and that true satanism is done underground because of this kind of action that is truly horrible and detestable. I know where the director was going here and what he wanted to say no matter what others had to say about it, negative (ignorance) or positive.
I have to first comment on why the overall rating was only 6.2 and it shows that most people do not understand or get this type of movie. First and foremost the song sung solo by the young lady at the end of the movie MADE the movie more of what it already was, beautiful, truthful, hard-hitting and well-spoken. Because for one to understand any good movie you must also accept and understand the moving and deep music that goes along with it. This movie dealt with a very hard-hitting subject that to this day is still very much real. It is not cliché or taboo. It is very real and I myself have known several people to commit suicide. The real point here is understanding just what the director intended you to get, and most did not get this movie, and even admitted it openly. I got every part of this movie and loved every part of it, and although it is hard to deal with, this is what makes it such a good movie. It is not made to entertain you, but to move you and to educate you. This is not made for opinion, for discussion or for interpretation. This movie was made to last a lifetime, and it has to those who can grasp it completely. It is not about the actors, whom did an excellent job, but about what it says.
I first saw this movie through a digital cable service and was immediately captivated by the music and the cinematography which painted the movie well to start with. I do not watch a movie because of how famous or good the actor is, but how well it is produced which in turn moves me, and which I can relate and connect to. The character of Carol is so much like me and what I went through in my life and past. I have spoken with the director in detail concerning this movie and I can tell you that unfortunately most descriptions or comments about this movie on this message board were off, not entirely correct or just plain ignorantly rude. The person who said "you either get this movie or you don't" had it exactly right. You need to have an open mind and heart while watching this presentation and really feel and connect with what is being shown and said. There were comments about Wrenwood being "new age" on this message board and elsewhere in other places out there, and yet that is not even mentioned anywhere in the movie. The label of "new age" is a misnomer as everything that is said can be compared to passages in the Bible as well. I see so much struggle with that term but we are living, and have been living in an age for a very long time of so many things going on and we need to learn that everything we do see and feel comes first from the inside. That is how faith, the spiritual and love work and healing happens from all of that. This movie is so profound and deep, and I never stop for a moment watching it. To those who say it is slow in some parts, this movie is made exactly the way it was supposed to be, flawless in every way. It is not meant to entertain, but to enlighten and to educate and to help others who have faced so much in life like Carol, and who have often been misunderstood, rejected and left alone. Always watch a movie like this through the eyes of love and depth. This is what the director meant by the "safe" place and seeing the bigger picture. I applaud the director for the bold and deep creation of this movie.
