Dark comedy from the mind of Tiziano Sclavi who created Cemetery Man and Dylan Dog.
The story revolves around Chiara Caselli leaving her boyfriend for her new boyfriend, Sergio Castellitto. She forgets something trivial and sends Sergio Castellitto back to the old apartment to get it. However, when he does, he finds her ex-boyfriend's dead body.
Many shenanigans ensue which sometimes involve more dead bodies. A lot of the comedy involves Sergio Castellitto being anxious and neurotic and being put in strange situations with the dead. It's never LOL funny.
However, Sergio Castellitto really sells the film, and you can feel the suspense of his panic and not knowing what to do in some of these situations. And the film has a delightful unpredictable quality.
The ending is mysterious in a way that is comparable to Cemetery Man. I didn't quite understand it, but it felt deep without quite making sense to me.

Off Balance (AKA: Phantom of Death):
The highlight of this one, by far, is the kills. There are a couple of good kills here, but one stands head and shoulders above the rest. It's truly a classic kill for the ages!
The special effects around a character's aging were impressive.
The score was quite good.
However, the rest of the film was rather disappointing. A lot of wasted potential. Donald Pleasence and Edwige Fenech both act well, but neither of them is amazing here. Michael York is hit or miss. Some of his scenes he really nails, and some of them are a bit out of his range. There's a soapy melodrama feeling to many of the scenes in the first half of the film.
They give away the identity of the killer rather early on. At first, the film appears to want to say something deep about aging and death, but it never gets around to saying anything interesting.
The ending was disappointing. Instead of going out with a bang, it goes out with a whimper.

La capilla ardiente AKA: The Burning Chapel (1981).
This was a tough one to get through. The filmmaking is pretty bad here. The directing and the editing are both awful. The cheesy tunnel cut is used multiple times.
The acting is not terrible. But it is below average.
The best part of the film was actually the story (minus the ending). The story was actually interesting with multiple supernatural elements that kept me guessing about who had supernatural powers and who was truly malevolent. But there was no payoff at the end. Such a waste.
At the end of the day, you should avoid this one.
