I'll rent it. I understand that one of the cute thing the distributors do these days is sell combo packs of both DVD and Blueray together. If you have only one or the other machine then you are being forced to buy a disc you don't need. This can be pricey and it's not right. I don't do Blueray and wanted a copy of this film, but I won't pay the price for the two. Sounds like a rip to me. So don't waste your money on these. Make them sell them separately. It is wrong what they are doing and should be illegal. But greed rules i guess. The employee and the electronics store who told me about this said it is going to be quite common amongst distributors to pull this stunt and she won't buy such packs neither.
This is basically the story of mountain man Hugh Glass worked over and placed later in the later Old West with him becoming a Cavalry scout and the other mountain men becoming cavalry troopers. Watch "Man In The Wilderness" and see the resemblance. Mr. Danton was the only actor in the whole movie while the rest were more than likely hired off the streets. Pass this one by! Low Budget? Yeah. This one must of been made with $1.98! I feel sorry for Mr. Danton as he was a terrific actor and this film was below his standards. The two scriptwriters were actors in this film. One played the scout and the other was the Agarn-looking trooper in the fort at the end of the flick who shot at the scout and Mr. Danton.
This film is nothing short of fantastic. Clint has done it again with his usual style of giving the people what they want. I sincerely hope that this film wins Oscar nods for Best Film, Best Director (Clint Eastwood), Best Actor (Adam Beach), Best Producer, Best Production Artist (Joe Musso), Best Screenplay, and several more that will take up too much time and space. I look forward to seeing the sequel, "Letters from Iwo Jima". Just having Mr.Eastwood at the helm, we know it'll be fantastic and another Oscar winning production. I would of loved working on an Eastwood project if I was still acting. He's an enormous talent and one can learn a lot about the business just by working on a project of his and watching all he does to bring it all together.
