The salt path
***
Lovely contrived schmaltz. I watched this knowing that the real life protagonists were fraudulent grifters and enjoyed it far more as a result.
Every device that you can think of is wheeled out, Gillian Anderson as dodgy Wyn and Jason Isaac as Moth are magnificent, squeezing the maximum out of every situation. A dominated young woman is rescued from a coercive boyfriend. A waitress provides free food. Young children gambol in the fields like lambs while the itinerant adults smoke dope Crowds gather to listen to Moth read from a book and throw money at him.
The "just walk it off" message for serious illness is an insult. It amounts to another contrived story about how reconnecting with nature is good for the soul" as Anderson listens to birdsong The scenery is magnificent . A reassuring fantasy.

A remarkable story, poorly told. Cage is hopeless. The race narrative clunky. Men did desperate things, including sexual assault in the fog of disaster.. the officers actions are awkwardly presented. The story overall is one of individual heroism and resilience which is difficult to portray in a swimming pool. The real story is what follows ,a captivating courtroom drama that weaves through generations of American presidents, from Harry Truman to George W. Bush, and forever entwines the lives of three captains-McVay, whose life and career are never the same after the scandal; Mochitsura Hashimoto, the Japanese sub commander who sinks Indianapolis but later joins the battle to exonerate McVay; and William Toti, the captain of the modern-day submarine Indianapolis, who helps the survivors fight to vindicate their captain.
Terrific Liam Neeson thriller- his best work for years. The plot unfolds slowly, at its own pace, in a carefully crafted modern western which suits the Troubles perfectly.
The '70s Irish setting is faithfully recreated, aided by a fine ensemble cast .Kerry Condon, as the IRA baddie is superb Tom Stern's panoramic Irish sweeps over beautiful scenery mean that you don't have to listen sometime you can just watch
This is a compellingly suspenseful, character driven piece with vicious bursts of violence and terrific passages of philosophical dialogue in between for us to draw breath, outstanding.
