"Insidious: Chapter 3" takes us back a few years before the Lambert haunting, a time before Elise Rainier (Lin Shaye) was killed. A teenage girl named Quinn Brenner (Stefanie Scott) went to Elise and asked her to make contact with her mother. Elise reluctantly tried to make contact and found something else entirely had attached itself to Quinn.
I liked Chapter 3. It was different enough from the previous two while sticking to its core roots. We got to see the moment Elise hooked up with Specs and Tucker (Leigh Whannell and Angus Thompson) plus other nuggets that were in parts one and two.
Quinn couldn't astrally project herself like Dalton and Josh, but somehow she became the coveted object of a malevolent spirit. The majority of the movie takes place at either Elise's home or the Brenner home with Quinn being invalid due to being hit by a car because of the evil spirit. You can't help but feel for Quinn as she lay up with broken legs, a lost mother, and an apparition trying to consume her.
