A very good superhero movie & definitely one of the best Marvel in a long time. Not great, but only in that there isn't as much "superhero" action in this movie as I would want, but it did feel organic to the story they are telling, so it worked. The cast is wonderful and we have a great jumping off point for future stories. I loved Julia Garner as the Silver Surfer and we had some wonderful moments throughout. With respect, this is the best interpretation of The Fantastic Four, but oddly it takes a lot emotionally from The Fantastics, who were created from F4 inspiration, so great full circle moment there. I had a hard time with the cgi baby being used so much. I wish they could've used it less, but it wasn't horrible, just a little distracting at times. Overall, worth watching and a promising start for the MCU to get back on track.
A well-casted and beautifully scripted movie that truly does a deep dives into the Superman lore without simply doing fan service. This is definitely a script crafted by James Gunn with all of his humor and some nerdy easter eggs thrown in. The fact that this movie does not really tell the origin story it simply knows that the audience has seen how Clark Kent became Superman allows us to really take a full journey. That is smart, exciting, action, packed, funny, and moving. Nicholas Hoult really delivers a great Lex Luthor, who you truly believe is a mastermind and evil genius. And then the cast of superhuman heroes really bring a lot to the story and give us some great jumping off points for the DC universe. I loved Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane... She really understood the assignment and has so much intelligence and bravery. And then we have the man himself... David Corenswet is such a great Clark Kent/Superman. He really brings this character to new heights. It's ironic that the two best super bands so far have been Juilliard actors and yet for my money David is such a well rounded Clark and Superman. He has everything that you could be looking for in this character and you truly believe that he is this guy. And this is no disrespect to HC who was a very dark take on the character based on the script that he was given. This one has a residence now that works for 2025 and giving the story a large larger than life feel. Bravo!!
A wonderfully honest and straightforward story told with brutal realism and practically in realtime. Ray and Alex are a wonderful duo that execute this autobiographical story with an expert hand and the audience is brought into the narrative and you truly feel immersed in the action. I applaud this cast as well for really training to be soldiers in a way that was accurate & believable. Kudos to the sound design team for really nailing that area of filmmaking. This movie is not for the faint of heart or anyone who shines away from realistic portrayal of war. I love seeing some of these young up-and-coming actors really getting to show an intensity. We don't normally get.
